In Killarney, a quaint township nestled in County Kerry along the picturesque southwestern shores of Ireland, lie numerous enigmatic marvels awaiting discovery. Among these treasures resides the illustrious Deenagh Lodge.

As one embarks on a journey through the captivating landscapes of Killarney, they are greeted by awe-inspiring vistas, grandiose peaks, tranquil waters, and verdant woodlands. Enveloping the town is the expansive expanse of Killarney National Park, spanning a remarkable 26,000 acres of pristine wilderness. Within this sanctuary, encounters with common fauna such as stag, hare, and raptor are unremarkable.

Dating back to the year 1834, the venerable Deenagh Lodge epitomizes unparalleled artistry. Originally serving as the gate lodge for the esteemed Kenmare Estate, it now stands sentinel at the threshold of Killarney National Park. Annually, from the months of April to September, it metamorphoses into the epicenter of activities for Down Syndrome Kerry.

Nestled within the hallowed halls of Deenagh Lodge lies a charming tea room, orchestrated by Down Syndrome Kerry. Here, patrons are bestowed with solace and maintenance. This endeavor concurrently serves a dual purpose: furnishing vocational tutelage for burgeoning adults within the realm of hospitality while nurturing inclusivity amidst the populace.

Guests of Deenagh Lodge are indulged in a variety of delicious treats. Ranging from steaming cups of aromatic teas and coffees to artisanal sandwiches, robust soups, tantalizing pastries, and exquisite confections—the repertoire is abundant. Moreover, for those seeking respite from the heat, refreshing beverages and luscious ice creams are also on offer.

Situated opposite the venerable St. Mary’s Cathedral, Deenagh Lodge stands as an epitome of architectural magnificence. Its erstwhile thatched roof, fashioned from indigenous river reeds, ensures warmth throughout the seasons. It serves as a sanctuary where the annals of history, conviviality, and gastronomic delights converge.
